Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Georgia, U.S.A.

Georgia passed a 6-week abortion ban in 2019, but this law was unenforcible under Roe v. Wade. This law went into effect in July 2022, after Roe was overturned.

In 2017, Georgia established the Positive Alternatives for Pregnancy and Parenting Grant Program, designating at least $6.7 million in public funds to crisis pregnancy centers. A recent 2022 Associated Press report estimated that Georgia has spent $9 million tax dollars to support crisis pregnancy centers. As of January 2023, there are at least 73 crisis pregnancy centers, 8 independent abortion clinics, and 3 Planned Parenthood health centers that provide abortion care in Georgia. Abortion care past 6 weeks of gestation is available with restrictions in neighboring states: Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
