Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Missouri, U.S.A.

On June 24, 2022, a total abortion ban immediately went into effect following the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. This total ban passed by the Missouri State Legislature in 2019 had specific language to ensure the law could be immediately enforced if and when Roe v. Wade overturned. 

A 2022 Associated Press report estimated that Missouri has spent $44.9 million tax dollars to support crisis pregnancy centers since 2010, and the state approved another $8 million later that year and has greatly incentivized donations to CPCs through tax credits. As of January 2023, there are at least 84 crisis pregnancy centers and 0 abortion care providers in Missouri. Abortion care is available in neighboring states: Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa.
